Hong Kong
After saying goodbye to everyone it was time to get on the plane, off for a big adventure! In the plane I watched a movie, eat my dinner and was too tired to see more movies so thought I would rest my eyes for a while. I arrived at 8 am and because I’ve had a 15 hour layover in Hong Kong before flying out to Ulaanbaatar, I decided to explore the city, from the airport into the train and up to Hong Kong City. I was absolutely stunned to see so many high-rises! I really felt like a country bumpkin, who’d never seen high rises!
I bought a tour bus ticket and drove around the city and listened to my plug-in-chair guide. From the station we drove past the main streets, Happy Valley racecourse (and of course I was too late with taking a photo of it), Ocean Park up to Stanley.
Stanley is a nice place along the coast with lovely little shops and few restaurants, including a Mc Donald’s were I HAD TO stop to have very greasy and salty chips and a fishburger. It was a very humid and hot day, so I bought myself some sunscreen, a nice big hat and a few other little things. On the way back I hopped off at the Peak Tram. This little train goes up on the hill were you look out over Hong Kong’s skyline, a pretty amazing sight! The amount of high rises is still amazing me.
Around 7 o’clock I was getting tired of the city so went back to the airport, checked in a chilled out until I had to get on the plane to the country of my adventure. It was a 3,5 hour flight from Hong Kong to Ulaanbaatar, unfortunately without any entertainment, so another attempt for resting my eyes for a little while.
